August 2004 Personal Letter

Dear Friends:

We are experiencing a rather difficult summer. The fact is, our new expenses on PAX, combined with our donors traveling for vacations and so forth, have set us back and we need to recoup.

At the same time, we went to a system of two Levitt Letters per month, and discontinued the old Personal Letter, which came to you in an envelope with a reply card. Frankly, without that reply card, folks just aren’t giving as they used to, and so we must return to the old system.

To tell the truth, the two shorter letters per month caused too much “handling” and did not provide enough space to really comment on all this news we are bombarded with. As we are almost alone among ministries — supporting Israel and teaching End Times Prophecy — we have a heavy burden to carry. Almost all the seminaries have abandoned the Promised Land and the Chosen People, and the churches increasingly are reflecting this erroneous doctrine.

With all that said, we feel a tremendous obligation and an absolute necessity to keep the ministry solvent and expanding. Needless to say, our new outreach on PAX is deeply appreciated by more and more viewers.

So enclosed please find the traditional card that seeks your input and also requests your kind financial support. As you know, we always inform you straightforwardly when times are good and when they are not so good. Thank you for understanding our needs.

Our barbaric enemies have beheaded another American, Paul Johnson. Gary Bauer points out that on the same day a Buddhist monk was beheaded in Thailand by his Islamic captors. Americans Daniel Pearl and Nick Berg were also beheaded, along with a Korean hostage.

I hadn’t really thought about it, but when Walid Shoebat, a Palestinian terrorist who became a born-again believer, made a program with us recently, he claimed that the satanic forces of the Tribulation period would be Muslims. I questioned him about the “King of the East” but he pointed out that Indonesia alone contains 200 million Muslims and would mount a formidable army by the time of Armageddon. Malaysia, Moslems of China itself and other Eastern powers could make up this assault. He said that the European powers were turning Islamic. The particularly ungodly Moslem philosophies and their presence in virtually every nation would make them a formidable foe of God Himself in those upcoming seven years. A point he made on the program previous to the recent beheadings was that decapitation is the form of execution given in the book of Revelation. He takes that passage perfectly literally while many theologians have considered it ancient language for capital punishment.

The theologians have done that because it was honestly impossible to picture individuals in the 21st century chopping off other people’s heads. It just did not make sense. Human beings had gone beyond being that barbaric and primitive. But those theologians did not reckon with our present enemies, the radical Muslims.

And every time I write the expression “the radical Muslims,” I almost feel a pang because there are so few of any other kind of Muslims. I am sure, as are most other commentators, that out of 1.3 billion people, there are some “moderates,” but the fact is, we never hear from them.

Make no mistake about it. We have a vicious, evil, primitive enemy, and that’s all there is to that. If we negotiate, if we conduct diplomacy with them, if we make deals behind the scenes with them, if we cajole them one way or another, we are simply losing time and risking going into a new dark age. We can very easily lose this war to over a billion fanatics and that would bring on a calamity (if the Lord tarries) as never seen before.

I know all this has been said, but as an individual of some thirty years experience in dealing with Muslim people, I can say we are at war and nothing but defeating this enemy will get us out of this war. They are impossible to deal with in any way other than a frontal attack.

We have taken too much Levitt Letter space already to encourage regime change in more than Afghanistan and Iraq. Obviously, that needs to be done. Perhaps it is already being planned in Washington. I have no way of knowing that. But, I can say this, if the tin-pot dictators who are now running the Muslim societies continue in office for very much longer, an enormous number of innocent lives will be lost. Terrorism needs to be defeated in its own homelands, and that is very difficult for one nation, even the United States, to accomplish.

Terrorism needs to be totally wiped out, and not in some halfway manner like the Saudis, who demand praise for every thug they claim to kill in the name of terror, but somehow let others go. It would be refreshing if the Saudis could manage to capture a single prisoner who belongs to al-Qaeda or some other terrorist group, so we could interrogate them. Unfortunately, they say they kill them all. That must be very convenient for the associates of the terrorists, the royal family.

I humbly think that when an American citizen has his head sawn off on international television, we should attack the country where that happened, and get the people on our own, no matter what it takes. I also think that when whole societies incite terrorism against us, call us the Great Satan, scream “death to America,” and burn our flag, we should attack those societies, take them over and make it known we will not put up with that. The Israelis are winning their war against terrorism by attacking the enemy.

Am I a warmonger? Am I brutal? No, actually the “attacks” won’t have to be very strong. In some cases, perhaps a phone call would do the job, and maybe in others a more “Iraq like” assault would be called for. After all, it took us only three weeks to make the regime change in Iraq. It might take an entire summer to change Saudi Arabia, Iran, Syria, PA, Libya, Egypt, and the Sudan.

I do not advocate hanging around in those countries, attempting the impossible task of teaching the Arabs to have honest, democratic societies. I think we should disorganize the regimes, take them down and then just ride out of town. If chaos results, then let there be chaos. If another dictator becomes established (that would probably take some years), then we could ride in and do it again.

But standing around and trying to negotiate for some kind of result usually achieved only with guns is wasting time, energy and lives. For President Bush to say he wants to bring the people who cut off the heads of his fellow citizens “to justice” is a very weak and unsatisfactory response to a savage provocation.

Sandra and I will be traveling to any number of churches this summer and we will be majoring in this theme. The End Times are almost upon us and we must get serious about our enemies.
