Highlighting: OFF ON

Dear Friends,

Every day, I receive a considerable number of unwanted e-mails, an inordinate amount of junk mail, and a variety of intrusive telephone solicitations. I assume your experience is like mine.

The fact that I have your attention right now—in a world where so many compete for it—is a testimony to God’s getting ahold of you first, and to the meaning of His Son and Scripture in your life.

Even as I write this letter to deliver a biblical perspective to you, well-known U.S. senators vie for your attention, as well. But there’s a difference: They offer their answers to vexing dilemmas, hoping to secure your vote for the most prominent job in the land; I write to encourage prayer and to share, as I endorse the world’s best answer-giver and leader: Jesus.

When Sen. John McCain was a POW in North Vietnam, I doubt that he imagined one day becoming a candidate for president. Given Sen. Barack Obama’s humble beginnings, he probably never envisioned making a competitive bid for the presidency; nor, I suspect, did Sen. Hillary Clinton think that she would be the first woman to make such a strong bid to be the world’s most powerful person.

In modern Saudi Arabia—as elsewhere in the Muslim world—marginalized women have trouble securing a driver’s license, never mind a bid to steer their culture’s government. In a world where many women and Black Americans still feel “second class,” Clinton’s and Obama’s emergence as first class presidential candidates not only invigorates the electoral process but infuses people who aren’t white males with an otherwise unlikely optimism. I am sure that those who have been “shot down” in life, or who find themselves captives to debt, sin, or circumstances are encouraged that a former prisoner of war can emerge from stress and hopelessness and aspire to be the most powerful person on Earth. These happenings remind us to keep our heads up, and enforce the notion that anything is possible—in the United States, that is.

What are the chances of a woman rising in Muslim worlds and taking her society’s helm, securing the backing of males in the process? Where can powerless people of color endure bleak prospects for success in life, bounce back from despair, and secure power legitimately, in part, on the heels of support from people of other colors? In what kind of world can people rise above their circumstances and, through dogged determination and the electoral process, eventually become national leaders?

America makes this possible, does it not? But what makes this possible in America?

While it could be said that America’s Judeo-Christian ethics make this possible, it is worth noting that it’s the “Judeo” side of those “Christian” ethics that provides the social foundation for the successful human experiment that is America. When the world’s most famous rabbi (the Apostle Paul) advocated for a world where there was “neither Jew nor Greek, male nor female, slave nor free” (Gal. 3:28) he was drawing from the Torah’s premium on justice for all, equity in human affairs (for the rich and the poor), and God’s desire for grace in human endeavors. The Old Testament spells this out in detail, and the New Testament affirms it in no uncertain terms. Mindful of the biblical vision in our nation’s origin, we must concede that the genius of America didn’t originate in America, but attribute it to the founding principles atop which our culture was constructed—biblical principles, to be sure.

Our culture is great because it was founded on great principles, not because it was founded by great personalities.

So, in a world where so much competes for your attention, time, and dollars— with promises to help you with your life—permit me to remind you that America’s success proves that those same factors that draw you to Israel’s God contain the values that stand the best chance of contributing toward your true success in life and to human betterment, generally. At Zola Levitt Ministries, we stand for all of that—and more!

I get invited to visit churches and share Israel’s God with their congregations; but my principal pulpit is America’s airwaves. There I can introduce the Gospel to millions from coast to coast—from a messianic Jewish perspective—because you put me there to do just that!

Our new eight-program television series, Ezekiel and the Middle East “Piece” Process, offers much-needed biblical and prophetic insights to the world we live in. We went to the Middle East and filmed the series on location even though economy-driven fears prompted some donors to draw back their support. I am not crying poverty. I am saying, though, that if you have ever thought “You know, one day I want to help out the Zola Levitt people financially,” this would be a great time to pitch in and do just that. This is the season. The day is here. The time is now.

Lastly, speaking of Israel, let me invite you to come with us to the Holy Land. You’ll see the biblical Word and the modern world in a whole new light. I know without exception that seeing Israel will be a dream come true for many of you. Sandra Levitt and I would be pleased to introduce you. We have four fall tours—Deluxe, Grand Petra, Grand Athens, and Ultra Grand—that will depart October 14 and 19 and return October 29 and November 2. Contact our Travel Manager Abel at (214) 696-9760 during business hours or 1-800-WONDERS (966-3377) anytime. Or email him at .

If you can’t help us materially, rest assured that we will remain at the helm helping you and others because our interest is making Jesus known the world over—house by house, door by door, head by head, and heart by heart—through the broadcast picture and word. Because praying costs you nothing but time, let me ask you to remember us prayerfully, given the spiritual challenges associated with advancing a nationally syndicated, Israel-loving ministry such as ours. Though money is very effective ammunition, every sort of gift is appreciated in our army.

Shalom,

Jeffrey Seif

The Trouble with Christians, The Trouble with Jews

“The Trouble with Christians, The Trouble with Jews” book

The trouble with Christians and the trouble with Jews is exactly the same: both subscribe to the God of Israel, the Creator God, the God of Scripture, but both have been remiss in actually reading Scripture. The different denominations of Christianity and of Judaism utilize Scripture differently, but it is patently obvious that the vast majority in either camp doesn’t have a significant grasp of the Bible.

One side is functional, with areas for postage, an address and a message. The other quotes Isaiah 53.5: “He was pierced for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with his stripes we are healed.”

“Half-Shekel Key Chain” keychain

These teardrop key chains each contain an authentic half-shekel coin from Israel, reminiscent of the days when each citizen of Israel gave a half-shekel coin to make atonement. Put your key chain in your pocket; salvation is now free!
