The Iranian elections and subsequent uprising occurred during my recent three-week trip to the Middle East, offering me a unique vantage point for observing that horrifying drama.
In Israel, the Iranian question is as simple as the answer.
Question: What difference does it make who the president of Iran is?
Answer: None!
The question of who serves as the figurehead of the totalitarian Islamic Republic of Iran is irrelevant. After all, the Islamic nation state is governed by the same ayatollah either way. The country’s president has neither the mandate nor the means to facilitate meaningful change—unlike in true democracies like America and Israel.
In America, as in Iran, increasing numbers of citizens long for change, but not the sort we’ve seen as of late. Many of us are disconcerted by big government’s intrusion into areas such as commerce, industry, and marriage. We who have Judeo-Christian affinities feel marginalized and prompted to hope for new leadership.
In Israel, after ill-advised leaders gave away more and more Land in hope of securing peace, Israelis voted in a stronger leader. Netanyahu sees the futility in Obama’s two-state solution, as do most Israelis—only 6% of them think Obama is good for Israel.
The policy of pushing Israel to give away its Land doesn’t work. Great Britain tried to appease the whining chancellor of Germany when he claimed that Austria belonged to him. Quoting Jesus’ “blessed are the peacemakers” and speaking for peace-loving England, Chamberlain told Hitler: “Take it! Just give us peace in return.”
When Hitler complained later that Germans were living in Czechoslovakia and that he was somehow entitled to that country too, Chamberlain (and Europe) let Germany get away with invading Czechoslovakia, in effect saying: “Okay, take that land too. Just give us peace.”
Is President Obama oblivious to history’s lessons? He is pressing Israel to compromise its security by giving away its Land, while he blows stardust in nuclear Iran’s face. In addition to weakening Israel, in the interest of inaugurating a new era of peace, he has made the rounds in the Islamic world, apologizing for past American insensitivity.
Do we need to be ashamed? Dennis Prager recently leaned on Washington Post correspondent Charles Krauthammer by reminding readers that in the last 20-30 years, “America bled for Muslims.
“We Americans engaged in five military campaigns on behalf of Muslims, each one resulting in the liberation of a Muslim people: Bosnia, Kosovo, Kuwait, Afghanistan, and Iraq. Bosnia and Kosovo were humanitarian exercises. So was the failed 1992–93 Somalia intervention to feed starving African Muslims—in which 43 Americans were killed. In none of them was there a significant U.S. strategic interest at stake. In fact, in these 20 years, the United States of America has done more for suffering and oppressed Muslims than any other nation, Muslim or non-Muslim.”
In return, Prager continued, “America has not only not received little gratitude from the Muslim world; it has been the object of hatred, mass murder, and economic attack from Muslim individuals, groups, and countries.”
We are a good people, and we have done right by the Islamic world! Our president is not representing us well.

Today’s turmoils won’t be resolved by meaningless treaties, shows of humility, mindless concessions, movement at the ballot box, or through demonstrations on the streets. I sense the Holy Spirit impressing upon others the need for repentance, for salvation, for personal rejuvenation, and for sanctification with the biblical Message. These godly salvos will facilitate lasting change and real-world peace.
If the Holy Spirit has had an impact on you, may I ask you to turn around and help me share His Message of salvation with others? The distressing news and financial upheaval of late have opened many hearts to searching for answers regarding their destiny as individuals and the fate of mankind as a whole. Our timely, biblical teaching will sow seeds of faith and draw viewers and readers to the Bible.
These difficult times are still “harvest times.” Therefore, I am returning to Israel to film a new TV series called Sar Shalom (Prince of Peace) in which I will guide viewers through the famous “Sermon on the Mount” and introduce them to Jesus’ peace process. Filming on location in and around the Galilee, I will explain how individuals can find the resources they need—whether financial, personal, physical, or spiritual —through Israel’s Messiah.
