Highlighting: OFF ON

Myles & Katharine Weiss

Dear Friend,

As today’s secular news continues to reveal the terrorist bent of the “religion of peace,” our ministry’s group of Bible Believers prepares to fly to Israel. What a privilege for Katharine and me to pastor pilgrims as they walk in the footsteps of Paul through Greece and Ephesus, and then tread the ancient pathways of God’s land!

On a family note, after nine months “in exile,” the immediate Weiss clan is back at home. Our attic pipes burst with a freeze last December, and extensive flood damage caused our exile. We “made aliyah” (came home), though finishing work remains. This flood episode produced more stress than I care to admit—and it pales compared to the price Believers pay for our faith around the world. Yet, my family’s upheaval highlighted the VERY temporary nature of this earthly realm.

My current projects include refuting claims made by an Islamic prisoner here in the U.S. One of the vital services provided by your gifts of funds is the distribution of “free” Levitt Letters to upwards of 1,000 inmates. Each edition is a treasure trove of God’s truth that makes its way through many hands, including those of Moslems. Our ministry often hears from the prisoners, which gives us opportunities to share Yeshua.

One inmate reader iterated a mainstream Moslem claim that Mohammed is the person Moses referred to in Deuteronomy 18.

15 “The Lord your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your midst, from your brethren. Him you shall hear…”

How can a man who is not Jewish fulfill this prophecy? He cannot. Thus, this Scripture becomes the lynchpin for our understanding the identity of the Messiah of Israel. We can learn much about the Messiah’s identity by comparing Yeshua’s life with that of Moses.

Let’s consider several parallels (and there are many more):

  • Just as there were 400 years of silence before God sent Moses to deliver Israel from bondage to Pharaoh, so there were 400 years of silence before He sent His Son, Yeshua the Messiah, to deliver Israel from ultimate bondage to sin and death. As Galatians tells us, “In the fullness of time, God sent forth His Son…” (4:4). It is notable that the NT also declares He was born of a Jewish woman under the Mosaic law.
  • Both Moses and Yeshua were sent from God (Exodus 3:1–10; John 8:42). Although Moses was a man, the deliverance came from above. Thank God for His grace in providing that which I could not accomplish through my own self-righteousness.
  • Both Moses and Yeshua were Jews (Exod. 2:1–2; Matt.1:1–16; Luke 1–2; Heb. 7:14). As stated above, this affects the Islamic narrative, to be sure, and Yeshua said it Himself in John 4:22: “Salvation is of the Jews.”
  • As infants, both Moses and Yeshua were threatened by wicked kings: (Ex. 1:15–16; Matt. 2:16). Pharaoh and Herod both tried to wipe out all male babies in order to prevent God’s deliverance.
  • Both Moses and Yeshua spent their early years in Egypt, miraculously protected from those who sought their lives (Exod. 2:10; Matt. 2:14–15). The parallels continue in their childhoods. Interestingly, Isaiah 19 prophesies the eventual collaboration between Israel and Egypt:
24 In that day Israel will be one of three with Egypt and Assyria—a blessing in the midst of the land, 25 whom the Lord of hosts shall bless, saying, “Blessed is Egypt My people, and Assyria the work of My hands, and Israel My inheritance.”
    When Messiah comes… again.
  • Both rejected enticement to become world rulers in this life. Moses was reared as a son in the royal family of Egypt and could have continued a lavish lifestyle as a powerful king, but he chose not to be called “the son of Pharaoh’s daughter” (Hebrews 11:24). Satan offered Jesus dominion over the kingdoms of this world (Matt. 4:8–9), but He chose to suffer and die for the sake of the people of Israel and gentiles who believe, as well.
  • Both Moses and Yeshua were sent forth from a “mountain of God” to free Israel. Moses was sent from the physical Mount Sinai in Midian, Arabia; Yeshua was sent from a spiritual “Mount Zion” in Heaven (Heb. 12:22).
  • Moses and Jesus were accepted by gentiles: Moses by the Midianites (Exod. 2:14–22), Yeshua by the world (Acts 10:45; 1 Tim. 3:16). The early Church was primarily Jewish, but the Jews’ national rejection opened the way for the Gospel of Jesus to touch the whole world.
  • Both knew God panim l’panim (face to face). God spoke directly to both Moses and Yeshua (Exod. 3:1–10; Deut. 34:10; Luke 9:34–36). All other prophets (including Mohammed and Joseph Smith) received their revelation by visions or dreams (Deut. 34:10; John 1:18). This intimacy uniquely ties Moses and Yeshua together.
  • Both were authoritative spokesmen for God (Matt.17:5; John 3:34). There was no compromise in the Word that God gave each to proclaim. This caused wonder among the common people and consternation among religious and political leaders.
  • Both Moses and Yeshua gave the people bread from Heaven (Exod. 16:14–15; Matt.14:19–20) and performed miracles (Exod. 4:21–23; Deut. 34:10–12; John 5:36; 12:37). God’s manna came to the people during Moses’ leadership, and Jesus fed the multitudes more than once!
  • Both were shepherds of Israel. Moses’ training included learning from his fatherin- law the ways of the shepherd. He then led the Israelites through the wilderness (Exod. 3:1; Numbers). Yeshua led His early followers as the Good Shepherd (Jn. 10:11; Matt. 9:36); and still today, His sheep know His voice, through the Word.
  • Both fasted for forty days in the wilderness (Exod. 34:28; Matt. 4:2). Moses went up the mountain for forty days, foreshadowing the Messiah; Yeshua’s forty-day fast fulfilled the prophetic shadow.
  • Both were Mediators of a covenant of blood: Moses of the older (Exod. 24:7–8) and Yeshua of the new covenant (Matt. 26:26–28; Mark 14:24; Luke 22:20; Heb. 9:11–15; 1 Cor.11:25; 2 Cor. 3:6).
  • Moses instituted the Lord’s Passover on the date of Nisan 14 in the Hebrew calendar as the means by which the Angel of Death would pass over those Israelites who trusted in God’s promise regarding the protective covering of the blood of the lamb (Exod. 12:11–12). Yeshua offered Himself as the sacrificial (Passover) Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world (John 1:29).
  • Moses brought about the “resurrection” of the Children of Israel as they passed through the Red Sea. Yeshua became the FirstFruits of resurrection in rising from the dead.
  • As Moses sent twelve spies to explore Canaan (Num.13), so Yeshua sent twelve apostles to reach the world (Matt.10:1). As Moses appointed seventy rulers over Israel (Num.11:16–17), so Yeshua anointed seventy disciples to teach the Nations (Luke 10:1). God’s math is elegant and impeccable.
  • As Moses conquered the great enemy of Israel, the Amalekites, with his upraised arms (Exod. 17:11), so Yeshua conquered our ultimate enemy of sin and death by His outstretched arms on the cross (John 19:18).

In October, our weekly television program, Zola Levitt Presents, airs the second of our two-part prophecy program Future Congress 2:

Israel and World Revival
We describe Israel as God’s sign post. Yeshua’s blood alone saves; but, the Church must recognize that Israel’s suffering has been genuine. Believers should concentrate on pointing unbelievers to the King of the Jews.

Following Future Congress 2, a brand new eight-part series, Jerusalem: Ancient Gates/Future Glory takes viewers on a walk around the Old City of Jerusalem and the Temple Mount to inspect the eight contemporary Gates of Jerusalem, which possess dramatic histories and provide spiritual insight.

The Dung Gate
Besides serving as a passage for carrying refuse out of the city, the Dung Gate leads to the Western Wall of the Temple Mount, Judaism’s holiest place on Earth. Guests include archaeologist Shimon Gibson and Rabbi Marty Waldman, with music by Marty Goetz.
The Zion Gate
The Zion Gate has seen its share of military action, and was a focal point in the history of the modern Zionist movement. Guests include archaeologist Shimon Gibson and Gate expert Tamar Hayardeni. David Parsons, from the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem (ICEJ), explains the eschatological (End Times) connection between Jews and Christians.
The Jaffa Gate
Repeatedly destroyed and rebuilt, the Jaffa Gate opens to the West and symbolizes the Gospel going out to the gentiles. Guests include the director of Jerusalem House of Prayer for All Nations, Tom Hess; and faith-filled Holocaust survivor Phillip Meyers, founder of Immanuel Tours. In addition, you will enjoy the music of Marty Goetz.
The New Gate
As its name implies, New Gate is the most recent gate and gives access to the Christian Quarter of the Old City. It provides a picture of God’s heart for unity. Guests include David Parsons, with the ICEJ; and fiery supporter of Israel Jan Willem van der Hoeven, director of the International Christian Zionist Center.

We design our TV programs to educate and elevate the dialogue about the Jewish Messiah. Your gifts of funds are essential to spreading the Gospel and love of our Messiah to Jews (especially in Israel), to Believers who want to improve their own witness, and to prisoners of every category. By the time you read this newsletter, Katherine and I will be filming a Bible narrative about the Patriarch Joseph, a definitive series about the Jewish nature of Messiah.

Please consider a generous contribution this month to help our ministry complete production of the Joseph television series. Everyone giving just a little, but on a regular basis, keeps our outreach’s high-quality productions on schedule along with meeting the increasing costs of airtime.

I hope you agree that abundant evidence points to Jesus and not Mohammed as the prophet Moses described in Deuteronomy 18. Like Moses, Jesus was a Jew, a Leader, a Prophet, a Lawgiver, a Savior, a Teacher, a Priest, an Anointed One, and a Mediator between God and man.

Moses was willing to have his name blotted out and to die for the people of Israel. Yeshua DID die for the sins of Israel and opened the way to eternal life for gentiles.

Please prayerfully consider coming with Zola’s group to Israel and experiencing the rich connection between Moses and Jesus. The Spring Tour in 2015 offers a chance for pilgrims to watch Israel prepare for the Lord’s Feasts, which begin on April 3. Tour options are:

Israel
March 15–24     $3,988
Israel & Petra
March 15–27     $4,988

(Prices include tax, fuel surcharges, and tips.)

Our Fall Tour 2015 (tentative dates: September 28–October16) includes options to follow in Paul’s footsteps in Greece and Ephesus before the Israel portion, and an excursion to Petra afterward. Zola Tours Manager Sandra can help you select your pilgrimage. You are welcome to call her at 214-696-9760, email her at , or visit www.levitt.com/tours.

Even as the world attempts to blot out the “name of Israel” (Psalm 83:4), you and I can trumpet together the covenant-keeping power of the God of Israel!

Your support and prayers during this volatile season have sustained Israel. Many Israelis are coming to recognize the friends they have in Yeshua’s Believers. Praise God! Let’s continue to Sha’alu shalom Yerushalayim!—“Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem” (Psalm 122:6).

Your brother and emissary,
Myles Myles

P.S. You are “in on the ground floor.” The day is coming when all people will know that Yeshua is the “prophet like Moses!”

The Witnessing Series

“The Witnessing Series” video

A practical guide on sharing your faith. The key to witnessing is sharing the Bible. But how you go about presenting it depends on your listener. These four half-hour TV programs are our response to viewers who've asked, “How do I witness to …?” The programs focus on witnessing to Arabs, Jews (two programs) and Gentiles. What a gift to transform a friend into “a fisher of men”!

The Prophesied Messiah

“The Prophesied Messiah” book

A special book containing the major prophecies of the Messiah, along with color photos and Holy Land maps from our television series of the same name. It is extremely important that we are able to prove the coming of Messiah from Old Testament Scripture, thus showing objective evidence that our Lord is indeed “The Prophesied Messiah.” One of our all-time most popular books.

Matzoh Postcards

“Matzoh Postcards” postcards

One side is functional, with areas for postage, an address and a message. The other quotes Isaiah 53.5: “He was pierced for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with his stripes we are healed.”
