March 1992 Personal Letter

Dear Friends,

Greetings in the name of our Messiah and the belief in His soon coming!

As many of you already know, we are running our new location series, “Unto the Gentiles.” Once we air the eight programs in the series, we will run them again from the beginning. In some viewing areas the air time has been changed, of necessity, to a less convenient time, and this second run will give you a chance to view or tape any programs you might otherwise have missed.

In the meantime, we are working on footage from Israel which we recorded during the December tour. It will be post-produced in time to run after the “Unto the Gentile” series. We are deeply gratified to be able to bring Israel to you in your home. None of you will want to miss any of this beautiful and informative material from the Holy Land.

You also have a chance to see the places shown in our series firsthand! This June we will lead another of our combination tours to Israel and Greece. Our tours always enjoy first-class accommodations in four and five-star hotels, and the food is absolutely delicious. In Israel we will visit many biblical sites, including the Wailing Wall, the Mount of Olives and the Garden of Gethsemane, to name just a few. A visit to the Sea of Galilee will refresh and invigorate your faith. A trip to Israel will greatly impact your view of the Bible. Nothing can compare with seeing historical places you have been reading about in your walk with the Lord.

After our ten-day tour of the Holy Land, we will offer an optional extension to Greece, where we will enjoy a luxury cruise of the Mediterranean Sea, including Patmos, Ephesus, Rhodes, etc. We will also visit the ancient ruins of Athens and Corinth, including Mars Hill. In this portion of the tour we will journey in the footsteps of Paul, visiting the very places where he taught and even stood trial, on one occasion.

Recently, there have been some new developments in the saga of the Dead Sea Scrolls. New information is coming to light about the messianic beliefs of the wilderness people who wrote the scrolls, and scholars believe that some of their writings point to the historicity of Jesus. New digs in the area have begun, and our crew was the first on the scene. We obtained exclusive footage of late-breaking news from the caves around the Dead Sea, and we interviewed Dr. Tabor and Dr. Eisenman, who are renowned scholars in the research of the scrolls. They were both mentioned in the New York Times article quoted on our program. We also talked with Israeli officials and other key people involved with this one-of-a-kind project.

It seems that more texts are surfacing that give evidence of the mission of Jesus. In the past, liberals have suppressed exciting news like this. We would like to bring more attention to the Dead Sea Scrolls and, by doing so, rouse more interest in their very spiritual content. We are seeing public demand opening the records of John F. Kennedy’s assassination, largely as a result of a recent controversial film. We may be able to do the same thing!

The videotape footage of the research project is so exclusive and relevant to the news, that the British Broadcasting Corporation bought much of it from us at the rate of $40 per second! As flattering as this is, we would prefer not to sell our videotape to other production companies. We would rather present the information to you ourselves so that we can insure that it gets fair treatment; in the secular arena, the producers are more likely to dilute the impact of the evidence and diminish the importance of recent discoveries. However, we elected to sell the footage due to our present financial stress.

Right now we have the opportunity to air a prime time special on CBN (FAM Network). Ordinarily, such a proposition would be financially out of reach, but since we were preempted for a CBN telethon in January, they have discussed offering us a discounted rate for a popular time slot. A special program like this one would be seen by millions of viewers coast to coast — people who do not usually watch Christian television. It would be a chance to reach so many people who never think about Jesus! They would come face to face with the facts of His existence and the consequences of His life on earth.

What a witness this would be to unbelievers! It would also rejuvenate the faith of Christians and maybe even convert some liberals to true, fact-based Christianity! Usually, liberals give the public enough of a dose of the Gospel to produce antibodies against it. A straightforward program, like the one we hope to make, could give a strong enough injection of the truth that the viewers would come down with a full-blown case of conviction, resulting in nothing less than unconditional belief in the Gospel!

With such earth-shattering discoveries right before us, it is crucial that we move quickly. Please pray that we will be able to seize this moment to proclaim the truth.
