The Jewish roots of Christianity

Highlighting: OFF ON

Myles & Katharine Weiss

Dear Friends,

When Katharine and I take tours to Greece and Israel, we stay on in Israel to film our TV programs. We stay there for a month, abandoning our congregational and counseling duties to devote our efforts to Zola Levitt Ministries. What ZLM does is that important. We Believers are in the season that precedes the coming of our Messiah, and this ministry proclaims the truth of the Bible and the centrality of Israel to the whole world.

Your partnership is a crucial component in that mission. It enables us to produce high quality, high definition dramas in Hebrew and bring relevant interviews from locations in Israel with those on the “finish line.” With your help, we cry out “Baruch Haba B’Shem Adonai” (“Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord”) through our TV presentations, newsletters, social media, and www.levitt.com. We shout above the noise of the mainstream media the biblical message that points people to The Truth, Yeshua Ha Mashiach/Jesus the Messiah. Your donations support the Israelis as they continue to stand firm, besieged on every side by enemies of the Jews, the Bible, and the Messiah.

The recent events at the United Nations underscore this reality. As the world watched mutely, the Iranian president called—again!—for the genocide of Israel. The West’s indifference to Israel was disheartening, but prophetic.

I hope you caught Benyamin Netanyahu’s speech to the UN General Assembly the day following Yom Kippur (http://bit.ly/SoggYh); it was masterful and clearly showed the effect of his recent Bible study with his Bible-scholar son. He demonstrated remarkable insight—and courage—in placing (for those with eyes to see) some crucially important factors. These he delivered in a realistic and clear perspective, and with a sincere sense of urgency. Following Netanyahu’s speech, Jerusalem Messianic leader Asher Intrater, who has appeared on Zola Levitt Presents wrote, “Almost alone, the Israeli prime minister speaks before the international diplomatic community of biblical values and the evils of militant Islam.”

President Obama met with no national leaders during the UN’s gathering, concentrating instead on his re-election campaign. But he spoke with Netanyahu afterwards by phone.

Netanyahu did meet with Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, (below) who reported that Netanyahu’s speech was “reverberating around the world.” In his speech, Netanyahu refuted the claim that Zionism is without biblical and historical roots:

Three thousand years ago, King David reigned over the Jewish state in our eternal capital, Jerusalem. I say that to all those who proclaim that the Jewish State has no roots in our region and that it will soon disappear … The Jewish people have come home. We will not be uprooted again.

Yesterday was Yom Kippur. For over three millennia, we have come together on this day of reflection and atonement…. However at the end of Yom Kippur, we celebrate … the rebirth of Israel, [and] the heroism of our young men and women who have defended our people with the indomitable courage of Joshua, David, and the Maccabees of old.

Then he rebuked the evils of militant Islam:

Forces of radical Islam … are bent on world conquest. They want to destroy Israel, Europe, America. They want to end the modern world… . Their intolerance is directed first at their fellow Muslims, and then to Christians, Jews, and anyone who doesn’t submit to their unforgiving creed. It’s not whether this fanaticism will be defeated. It’s how many lives will be lost before it’s defeated.

For the ayatollahs of Iran, mutually assured destruction is not a deterrent, it’s an inducement…. Ayatollah Rafsanjani said, “The use of even one nuclear bomb inside Israel will destroy everything there, however it would only do partial harm to the Islamic world.”

Netanyahu ended with another appeal to biblical values:

We heed the words of the Jewish prophets Isaiah, Amos, and Jeremiah to treat all with dignity and compassion, to pursue justice and cherish life, and to pray and strive for peace. These are the timeless values of my people and these are the Jewish people’s greatest gift to mankind.

Our ministry reinforces these values and keeps them before the international community. We continue to herald the dangers of militant Islam, joining those voices that speak of biblical, moral values. Thank you for helping us fight the good fight. (2 Timothy 4:7)

Netanyahu draws red line on Iran nukes at UN.

As we prepare to film The Sons of Promise and teach about Isaac and Jacob, please recognize the significance of this upcoming series. You see, the Christian world is still under assault from those who espouse Replacement Theology. In some quarters, being a “child of Abraham” is an acceptable abstract concept, but viewing oneself as grafted in to the commonwealth of Israel, and honoring the actual physical seed of Abraham—through Isaac and Jacob—is controversial. The Sons of Promise series will illustrate that the blessing of God comes through the line of Isaac and Jacob. Of course, the Messiah is the most obvious and greatest blessing, but we will demonstrate that God includes science, medicine, technology, and many other blessings through this small family, His natural family on Earth.

The Jewish people have EARNED respect through their abundant contributions to this world. In His grace, God has used the Jews to prevent disease, provide solutions to scientific problems, and open mysteries that have released His goodness in many fields of endeavor. We will illustrate this through Zola Levitt Presents.

By contrast, the world daily admonishes everyone to kowtow to Islam and its proponents and icons, although we have not seen any curative or restorative benefits from the “religion of pieces.” Imagine my shock and delight when I read the following editorial written by a Muslim journalist after the assassination of American Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens and three of his colleagues.

Imad al-Din Hussein, a columnist for Al Shorouk, Cairo’s daily newspaper, wrote:

We curse the West day and night, and criticize its [moral] disintegration and shamelessness, while relying on it for everything. … We import, mostly from the West, cars, trains, planes … refrigerators, and washing machines. … We are a nation that contributes nothing to human civilization in the current era. … We have become a burden on [other] nations. … Had we truly implemented the essence of the directives of Islam and all [other] religions, we would have been at the forefront of the nations. The world will respect us when we return to being people who take part in human civilization, instead of [being] parasites who are spread out over the map of the advanced world, feeding off its production and later attacking it from morning until night. …

The West is not an oasis of idealism. It also contains exploitation in many areas. But at least it is not sunk in delusions, trivialities, and external appearances, as we are. … Therefore, supporting Islam and the prophet of the Muslims should be done through work, production, values, and culture, not by storming embassies and murdering diplomats.

Refreshing and encouraging, isn’t it?

As people in the West join those within Islam who would outlaw free speech, especially any humorous fun poked at Allah or Mohammed, we need to speak out! It seems fine to defame and demonize Jews and Christians … just DO NOT EVER say anything offensive about Islam. Obviously, you and I must keep this ministry’s Bible teaching and commentary on the air and in the minds of viewers!

During November’s television broadcast, please watch for the Abraham: Father of Faith series to continue, including these programs:

Circumcision as a Forever Sign
God institutes this sign of the covenant with the descendants of Abraham. Former mayor of Shiloh David Rubin explains the contemporary conflict over the mountains of Israel.
The Sacrifice
Isaac, the promised son, is a picture of the Messiah to come. We interview a civic leader near the Tomb of the Patriarchs in Hebron, one of the most hotly contested cities of Israel.

Also, you will enjoy our special interview program with “Sons of Abraham” Myles and Walid!

Special Guest: Walid Shoebat
Born a son of Ishmael, Walid had bad feelings toward his cousin Israel. Now, he embraces not only the Jewish people but the Messiah as well.

We just updated a classic Zola series, The Stones Cry Out, which uses archaeology to verify biblical truth. The first programs include:

The Tunnel
Katharine and I host this encore presentation examining recent archaeological discoveries that shed light on the Bible. In the first program, Zola tours the tunnel that passes under the western edge of the Temple Mount. In Jerusalem, we hear a journalist describe the people’s reaction when the tunnel was opened to the public in the 1990s.
Tale of Two Temples
In this program, we sort through the ruins of Robinson’s Arch in Jerusalem, then head north to Mount Gerizim, the sight of a temple in Samaria.

These HD TV programs will encourage your faith and are a fantastic witnessing tool for you to invite friends and family to view with you.

We must keep broadcasting, writing, and supporting those works in Israel that value what God values. Building on the foundation that God had Zola lay, we want to see hearts turn to the Lord and begin to love what He loves! For Katharine and me, this ministry is worth giving fully of ourselves. She and I thank you for your support, kind words, prayers, and donations. They all mean a lot to us.

We would love to see you on one of our upcoming Holy Land tours. It is our pleasure to host this ministry’s community for the life-changing pilgrimages to Israel. The delight of the Lord is always reflected in the faces of our travelers, and there is never a disappointed participant. Plan now to join us March 3–12, 2013 in Israel and continue on to Petra, March 12–15 if you choose that option. You will be blessed!

Until then, Sha’alu Shalom Yerushalayim … Pray for the Peace of Jerusalem. (Psalm 122:6)

Your brother in His hands,
Myles
