The Jewish roots of Christianity

Highlighting: OFF ON

Myles & Katharine Weiss

Dear Friend,

Happy Hanukkah and Merry Messiahmas!

Katharine and I were incredibly blessed by this ministry’s fall tour to Israel! We’re beginning to think that the Zola Levitt community has the most teachable, spiritually mature Believers in the Body of Christ. All our tour groups are amazing, but some just stand out. An eclectic group from every church background and worship style joined us in Greece, Turkey, Israel, and Petra. The Israel-only contingent alone consisted of 96 Believers. We had Catholic, Jewish, Baptist, Evangelical, Charismatic, and non-denominational disciples of Yeshua, all walking together in love to plumb the depths of God’s Word.

In addition to our guides and drivers—excellent as usual—we were blessed to have Mike and Sandra Luttrell with us. Sandra, the Zola Tours manager, coordinates a first-rate tour. She and her husband Mike really made our pilgrims feel at home, handling logistics and freeing Katharine and me to pastor our pilgrims.

I am amazed that over the years, God reveals new insights from the Scriptures for each group we host. Someone sagely noted that Israel is “50 miles wide and 50 centuries deep!” I personally feel that this latest tour group received the richest teachings I have ever delivered in Israel. And with good reason: As we approach the Lord’s return, our need for clarity and depth increases. God faithfully blesses our pilgrims.

Many of our sites are memorable, but the anointing of God was quite evident during our worship with boat captain Daniel Carmel on the Sea of Galilee. You too can hear Daniel’s powerful testimony of saving faith: He shares it in our Zola Levitt Presents series Acts: Then and Now… the Story Continues. You can order these eight 30-minute TV programs on two DVDs at store.levitt.com/DACTS or view them free online at www.levitt.tv/media/series/DACTS.

Other tour highlights included baptisms and rededications at the Jordan River and the addition to our itinerary of Israel’s ancient capital Shiloh, a favorite spot for Katharine and me. The Ark of the Covenant rested for 369 years in the Tabernacle at Shiloh, now home to a beautiful Modern Orthodox Jewish community. Situated in the heartland of ancient biblical Samaria, Shiloh is not on many itineraries. In past years, we visited on an armored bus—with an armed guard. Thank the Lord, Shiloh is now more “mainstream” and still a centrally poignant place in the Land. This hidden jewel astonished our pilgrims.

Yad Vashem’s Hall of Names

Our tour’s final day began at Yad Vashem, Israel’s Holocaust History Museum and memorial, and ended at the Garden Tomb with an intimate communion service and a young man rededicating his life to the Lord. What a day: from the depths of human depravity to the resurrection power of the empty tomb!

Please pray about coming with us to Israel soon; it would change your life. Our next tour travels in the spring of 2015 and offers two options:

Israel
March 15–24     $3,988
Israel and Petra
March 15–27     $4,988

Prices include tax, fuel surcharges, and tips.

Our Fall Tour 2015 (tentative dates: September 28–October 16) includes opportunities to follow in Paul’s footsteps in Greece and Ephesus via cruise ship before the Israel portion, and an excursion to Petra afterward. Sandra, our travel manager, can help you select the perfect pilgrimage for you. You are welcome to call her at 214-696-9760, email her at , and visit www.levitt.com/tours.

I can confidently assure you that Sandra endeavors to make your pilgrimage stress-free. Zola Tours understands the minutiae of visiting another country, so we do the “heavy lifting” for you, freeing you to enjoy all the nuances of the Land. We also recognize that the media and anti-Semites would love to keep you from visiting Israel. Our Fall Tour group shared the resistance they encountered. But Baruch HaShem!—Praise God!—they came despite disquieting voices.

Our pilgrims are heroes to me: They bring hope to the Israeli people, and our visits stimulate the Israeli economy. Each of our tour groups steps into history by becoming part of the Lord’s restoration of Israel. The graves of Ezekiel are open, and the bones are here… and God is breathing life into them.

Therefore prophesy and say to them, “Thus says the Lord God: ‘Behold, O My people, I will open your graves and cause you to come up from your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel. Then you shall know that I am the Lord, when I have opened your graves, O My people, and brought you up from your graves. I will put My Spirit in you, and you shall live, and I will place you in your own land. Then you shall know that I, the Lord, have spoken it and performed it,’ says the Lord.” Ezek. 37:12–14

We understand that this step is only one in a long history that stretches back to Abraham—though the Garden of Eden is really where it began. Yet, the media dispute that history. I will illustrate.

By following one of our mandates, this ministry brings the truth about Israel to the Western world. Especially as secular and anti-Zionist media undertake to invalidate the historical Jewish presence and connection to Israel. The media are good at it, well funded and abetted by what the Soviets called “useful idiots.” These are media lemmings who accuse Israel of every wrongdoing. They uphold a double standard: One set of high expectations for Israel, another for all other nations of the world.

When our film crew was last in Israel, a rabbi was shot as he left the Menachem Begin Center, a remarkable museum and cultural center. His assailant was a 32-year-old terrorist who had spent ten years in an Israeli prison for heinous crimes.

BUT… When our young (Christian) Arab TV assistant joined us on the production bus the following morning, he reported: “The IDF kidnapped and killed a young boy, and that is why the Arabs are rioting.”

Wait a minute! “Brother, you’re missing some facts here,” I countered. And Katharine piped up, “That doesn’t sound like the IDF.”

But that was the information he had heard on the Arabic news.

These intentional lies are a big reason why this ministry does what it does, and why we need your gifts of funds. We Believers must continue to herald the truth about Israel to the world, the Church, and to Israel’s many friends and foes!

Help us make history instead of merely observing it! Please prayerfully send your best year-end contribution. We thank the Lord and you for building the Body together.

This month, our Zola Levitt Presents television broadcast will begin with a two-part report from the Future Congress 2 conference. Katharine and I had the honor of teaching at the gathering in which Hal Lindsey gave the keynote speech. These programs are two of my sessions:

A Messianic Perspective, Part 1.
Speaking from the conference, Myles proclaims that we are living in a day of restoration. Peter’s preaching at Pentecost transformed the world, and now the world is dividing into people of the Book and people NOT of the Book.
A Messianic Perspective, Part 2.
Myles encourages Believers to use love and not force to win souls. Accepting Yeshua’s sacrificial gift of salvation does not “convert” Jews to a new religion; rather, it means repenting from sin and following God in the way we live.

We will also look at Hanukkah. The video draws from one of my lessons: Chanukah, Christmas, and You.

Hanukkah.
Myles and Katharine present Hanukkah—the Jewish Festival of Lights. In a time of peril, the Lord’s deliverer rose, lit the lamp of hope, and rededicated the Temple and Israel. From generation to generation, Jews have lit lamps in their homes to commemorate the victory and remember the miracle of the oil. Our Feast of Lights series explains Hanukkah thoroughly.

2014: The Year in Review.
Myles and Katharine review the television series presented this past year—Journey of Restoration, Abraham: Father of Faith, Israel in Prophecy, Future Congress 2, Sons of Promise: Isaac and Jacob, Jerusalem: Ancient Gates / Future Glory—and significant events that occurred throughout 2014.

Our ministry has some ambitious and creative ideas for 2015 that we can accomplish with your prayers and financial contributions. December is an optimal time to receive last-minute tax relief through donations. Katharine and I always review our giving at year’s end, looking for worthy ministries to bless. We know there are many appeals coming to you at this time of year, and we hope you will recognize the relevance of ZLM in furthering God’s Great Commission.

Thank you again for your partnership.

And remember, Sha’alu Shalom Yerushalayim—“Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.” (Psalm 122:6)

Your brother and messenger,
Myles Myles

P.S. In his letter to Ephesus, Apostle Paul called Satan the “prince of the power of the air.” Together, we Believers can put the truth of God’s Word on the airwaves and replace Satan’s hot air!

The Feast of Lights

“The Feast of Lights” video

Hanukkah—the Jewish Feast of Lights—harks back to a time before Christ when a cruel, anti-Semitic dictator threatened to wipe out the Hebrews. But the Lord’s Deliverer arose, lit the lamp of hope, and saved Israel. From generation to generation, Jews have lit lamps in their homes to commemorate the victory and retell the story of the Feast of Lights.
