Notes from the Webmaster about Zola's 2006 battle with cancer

The future

Here are some paragraphs taken from a letter that Sandra wrote back on March 3, where she summarized this situation very well, and also wrote about the future of the ministry. I know many are wondering about the ministry’s plans for the future. I don’t know if anyone can say how things will unfold for sure, but Sandra says here what the plans are.

Someone once said that, “Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans.” Zola and I have been so blessed to have been making those plans of speaking, traveling to Israel and making wonderful television programs for many years. Our plans were such that we could tell you where we would be years from now. We were having a wonderful time in the Lord. Now, those plans are changing.

I can also tell you that God is in control and we are in His hands. Already, we see that God has gone ahead of us in many of the details of just getting home, of seeing doctors that are booked solid, of people praying for us, and of friends being with us. We are truly blessed.

I want to also assure you that Zola’s ministry will go on. We are making some adjustments to allow Zola to take treatments and to rest. The Levitt Letter is in good hands with Lou Hays at the helm, Mark Levitt has always done the best job of running the ministry, Tony Derrick and I will continue to take tours to Israel. We have a stable of solid Bible teachers who are available to speak in churches. Ken Berg will produce programs about Israel and current events. As always, the office staff is there to help you. We are all pitching in to continue to make God’s word heard throughout the world.

Zola really is in good spirits. Rereading Psalm 23, I am reminded of the last verse: “and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.” That is what life is all about. Being with our Lord forever. Zola always says that we are living our eternal life now; the worst part is living here.

Remember to witness to your friends and family. It is the best medicine for them.

    Dear Zola,
I was very saddened to hear of your cancer and how fast it was progressing.
I have received your newsletter and your books for a very long time. You have taught me well. You will continue to be in my prayers till the Lord takes you but if you will hang on a little longer we can all go up together! I feel as you do that the rapture is not too far into the future. Thank you for your ministry. God bless you and your family. I will continue to support your ministry and will pray for the peace of Jerusalem.
    Love,

    Dear Zola and Family,
You are always in my thoughts and prayers and how close I felt to you all at my first Passover Seder this week! My husband and I go to Israel with our church group in September. We found a church(Calvary Chapel)I think you would love. In the children’s sanctuary hang banners with the names of the Tribes of Israel! I knew we had found a church home when I saw them. Thank you,Zola and everyone at the ministry. Peace and Grace, Carolyn

  12. SYLVIA BARNES Says:

DEAR ZOLA AND FAMILY, I HAVE ENJOYED WATCHING YOUR PROGRAM EVERYTIME I WAS ABLE TO GET IT, EVEN, BEFORE I WAS REDEDICATED TO THE LORD. MY SPIRIT IDENTIFIED YOU AS A MAN OF GOD, AND FOLLOWER OF JESUS. I HAVE NOW BECOME A REGULAR VIEWER AS WELL AS GETTING ON YOUR WEBSITE. I JUST WANT TO SAY I AM SO SORRY FOR THE WORLD THAT YOU MAY NOT BE HERE LONGER THAN WHAT IS PROGNOSED, HOWEVER, THE FIRST THOUGHT I HAD WAS YOU HAVE DONE WHAT YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO DO, FINISHED THE COURSE, AND DONE IT WELL, AND NOW GOD IS READY FOR YOU TO SERVE HIM DIRECTLY, RIGHT BY HIS SIDE. I KNOW THE TRUMPET IS GOING TO SOUND VERY SOON, AND WE WILL ALL BE TOGETHER AGAIN, AND ON A MUCH MORE PERSONAL BASIS.
I PRAY SELFISHLY FOR YOUR COMPLETE HEALING, WHAT A MIRACLE!! BUT YOU I BELIEVE YOU ARE READY FOR GOD’S WILL–NO MATTER WHAT! MY PRAYERS ARE FOR YOUR FAMILY TOO, I LOST MY MOM TO CA AT A YOUNG 23 YRS OLD, BUT BY THE GRACE OF GOD, I CAME THROUGH IT,& WAS SAVED. YES, SEE YOU SOON, BROTHER; I HOPE WE ALL GO TOGETHER! SHA’ALU SHALOM YERUSHALAYIM!

  13. Charles and Carol Zajicek Says:

Dear Zola, Sandra, Mark, and all,

We’re so grateful for all the loving care and prayer in your behalf. I’m sure your staff is in attendance to your needs out of tremendous love, as well as dedication and respect. It’s very reassuring to know the ministry will continue, and we’ll remain committed to it. It’s comforting to have “met” Sandra on the program, and know what a faithful and believing spouse you have caring for you, Zola!

You remain in our prayers, and we wish you continued peace and comfort. I haven’t forgotten that we could ALL be together in the twinkling of an eye, before the day is over! We think we’ve made our plans based on our circumstances, yet the Lord has His timetable! Come, Lord Jesus!

We treasure all you’ve taught us, and you have our love,
    Charles and Carol

  14. Charles Lamson(skyflyer4ever) Says:

    Brother Zola,
I just read the two updates concerning your situation. On the one hand I am very sad! But on the other, I am glad that you will see Jesus (maybe in the near future). I think the Rapture is so very near, but you will see the Lord before us. I’m praying for your healing but God’s will be done. I’m sure that you will hear, “Well done, thou good and faithful servant”. The Levitt Letter is really a treat to receive in the mail; I anxiously await for every issue. It is wonderful to be surrounded by your staff and family who loves you dearly. May God shower you with favor and blessings, Amen.

  15. Charles Lamson(skyflyer4ever) Says:

I’m praying for you to receive favor, blessings and peace that only God can give you during a very difficult time.

  17. Kathy Nemec Says:

    Dear Zola and Sandra,
Our Wednesday Bible study/prayer group has been praying for you since we heard that you were ill. Last Wednesday we celebrated Passover using your booklet as our guide.
You have been our guide in many ways, and you have made many disciples. Just think of that! Deut.28:61 states that the curse is every sickness and every affliction which is not written in the book of this law. This weekend as we celebrate Jesus’resurrection, we are reminded of Gal.3:13 “Christ purchased our freedom (redeeming us) from the curse of the Law by Himself becoming a curse for us, for it is written , Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree.” Please know that we are praying for your miracle.
    In Jesus’s love,
    Kathy Nemec

  18. Jo Ann Mooneyham Says:

    Zola,
I pray, too, that you have a blessed passing as Tim said, or in other words an easy birth. How I long for us all to be going. This world is not our home and your leaving us makes me feel even more like a stranger and pilgrim here. I feel homesick for Heaven, for Jesus, and for what the Word says…’NO EYE HAS SEEN, NO EAR HAS HEARD, AND NO ONE’S HEART HAS IMAGINED ALL THE THINGS THAT GOD HAS PREPARED FOR THOSE WHO LOVE HIM’ Thank you for equipping us so well with your knowledge of our Father…so much so that we want to run into His arms and never leave them. I love you and all those nearest and dearest to you. May the Holy Spirit lift you all up into His presence so you will know only His peace that passes all understanding and joy unspeakable. “Shalom” to you all and to our Lord Yeshua, “Come!”

  19. Marilyn Callendar Says:

Dear Zola and Sandra: My heart is breaking as I write this. I know the lord will truly be happy to have you with him if he does not heal you as we have prayed for. I cry everytime I think of you at the end of each program when you say Sha’alu Shalom Yerushalya’m! No matter how down I am,the sparkle in your eyes I know is from the holy spirit because I smile and feel him speaking to me. I will know you from the sparkle in your eyes. In Sweet Jesus Name
    Marilyn Callendar

  20. Kathy Says:

Thank you for giving us all this opportunity to express our love for you Zola and your family during this difficult time. I pray for your comfort and peace and ultimately your healing. Thank you for allowing us to share ourselves with you. You are truly special people!
    Love,
    Kathy A.

  21. Janyce Says:

    Dear Zola and family,

I want to tell you how much you mean to me, Zola. It was you who drew me to your show. I am a believer and I do believe that Israel is the promised land but it was your special way that made me continue to watch your program.

It was your honesty, kindness, gentleness and humility that I fell in love with. You simply can not be replaced in my heart and I will miss you so much.

I have prayed for a miracle from the very beginning and will continue to do that. I also pray for your family and I pray that you are comfortable and pain free.

    Love Janyce

  22. Diana J. Wharton Says:

As the army of angels gather, I see the Hand of God reaching out to give the command, “Let My People Go” and the devil has no choice … our Lord is the Commander-in-Chief. I am looking upward … never alone, never alone. As I look at an artist’s redention of the boat in the storm, the Lord reaches out His Hand and says, “Be Still.” All is quiet and the looks of fear melt into a peaceful repose. He is the Master, the Designer, the Author, and the Creator. From dust we come, to dust we return — but wait! That is not the end of the story, but only the beginning!
As I read the messages of love that reaches up to heaven that we request a peaceful and painfree passing – I think about Dwight L. Moody. I think it is Dr. D. James Kennedy that says it so dramatically — “This is the day of my corination,” he said.
As Stephen looked and saw the Lord in heaven, how magnificent is the vision! The prophets that were given the vision of the Lord on His Throne … so will the vision be for those who have trusted and walked by faith KNOWING the sight will be far beyond anything we might ever dream to imagine.
These are the seeds of excitement and bewilderment that have been planted by a man that said, “Yes Lord … I will go … I will tell them about You …” The seeds are growing into a harvest.
It was at sundown last night that I thought about our Lord dying on the cross. He asked the Father, “Forgive them, they know not what they are doing.” That very moment two were saved – a Jew and a Gentile.
I have already told many that will listen .. it is the Feast of First Fruits! Our Lord Yeshua was the First! How could I ever give this message to another if I had not been taught? Where else is there to go to learn about the God of Heaven than to His Chosen Priestly People that have answered His call? Today a young man was unsure if I was a Jew or a Christian … because of the Star of David around my neck. So I pointed out to him, “there is a cross in the middle … you must look closely to see. The Resurrected Lord and King is a Jew.”
It is the Feast of First Fruits, because HE is the 1st says that there will be MORE and we shall see His Face, we shall hear His Words. I will never forget and forever hope … the Joy of the Lord that receives His Beloved. Whenever He chooses, whenever He calls, “Come Home” and we will go and the reunion begins. Just one more moment Lord … and the song we sing says, “Give us one more hour, one more day, one more year …”.
With such a love that a heart cannot hold, I send to you dearest Zola, and strength and our prayers cover your family and beloved. You have provided the strength by your faith … your example … your enthusiasm … and above all HOPE.

Teacher … I long to teach, to find the ears that will listen, the hearts that will respond.

    Yes Lord, I believe.

In the Name above all names – Yeshua, King of kings and Lord of lords … I pray for Shalom.

    Love,
    Diana

  23. Margo West Says:

    Dear Zola, Sandra & Staff,

I needed to write to you to let you know that I can honestly say I understand what you’re going through. We just lost my mother to cancer on February 28. I believe it was last year that she and my father, Jeanie & Bill Morford, were on your program to talk about Jewish Roots and my dad’s translation of the New Testament, The Power New Testament. What a blessing it was for them to speak with you and share your love of Israel. I know that it is not a coincidence that both you and my mother were attacked so horribly with cancer. My mother survived just a little over three months after being diagnosed. People with ties to Israel will be attacked, but God is still in control. It is just so very difficult for those left behind!

Please be assured that we are praying for you and your family and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your ministry. God is good!

Love, Margo, Bruce, Jacob, Micah & Matthew West & Bill Morford

  24. Walter Mintz Says:

Dear Zola, Sandra, Family, and Staff:

I honestly cannot say how much Zola and his ministry has meant to me. I have been watching his program for many years now, and his teaching has always given me renewed strength and discernment in these troubled times. One day, Zola’s signature prayer will be answered, for all that are His will experience “Shalom Yerusalaim.”

  25. sissy Says:

    Dearest Zola,
I have known our precious Lord for 30 years now. I want to let you know that you are a big part of a better understanding of how to really love Him. For years, I was a surface Christian. I started watching Prophecy In the News and immediately knew you were a sincere brother. I started learning and reading about prophecy I believe because of you. I thank you so much as this has taken me into a new understanding of our Lord. Many say they know Him but I am just touching the surface. I pray the Lord come soon, but I am torn because I know there is still work to do here. I thank you for doing more than your part. When I first heard you were sick, I was also torn. It seems the time is close for all of us. It shakes me up that in such a cold world full of evil, that the strong ones are leaving us here. Please pray for US. You have been so much of teacher to all of us. I wonder if you realize that? The Lord knows how it grieves us. If the Lord choses to take you out of the way here, and if he allows, will you remember me and my boys to the Lord. I am a single mom trying to raise teenage boys. They know the Lord but are still trying to keep one foot in the world.I have you on my heart and cant wait to meet you!
    In Jesus name,we love you,
    Sissy

  26. Craig Atkins Says:

    Dear Zola,
It is with great sadness that I learned of your illness. My heart sank with despair, because of my own selfishness. Your ministry has been so instrumental in my walk with the Lord. I first had contact with your ministry in the seventies. I had lost track of it untill recently. Your ministry stirred a desire in my heart to minister to the Jews. Your ministry gave me a better understanding of the commonalities of the Jewish and Christian cultures. These tools have helped me over the years do this. I was so looking forward to taking a trip to Isreal with you, maybe if the Lord is willing. May God’s peace be upon you in this new journey of life. As fellow followers of the Messiah, we know that for you to live is our gain. However, for you to go to the Lord is for you to receive your well earned rewards. God Bless you and your family and ministry. Shalom.
    In Him,
    Craig

  27. Merline Rufledt Says:

Dear Zola, I am very sad to hear about your illness. I have so appreciated your work. I watch your show, and tape almost every one. You have been such a blessing, God has truly used you.
I am praying for you every time I think of you and your
family. I am so glad that the ministry will continue. I was hoping to meet you here, but am sure to meet you up in our heavenly home. Your mansion must be almost ready. We need you here, but “Thy will be done”. God bless you Sandra and family and staff. “We sorrow not as others who have no hope”. Thank you for staying true to your calling. Even those behind the scenes are called. God’s Peace to you all.
    Sincerely, Merline Rufledt

  28. Frankie Huffman Says:

    Dearest Zola,
I want you to know I love you and am ernestly praying for you and your family. I send the following prayer to all I know who have cancer. I am praying it for you. As soldiers we do fight and we win many victories, whatever we do we are to be faithful until the end, but when it is all said and done the crowning moment is to be called into the throne room to see the King. I admire your dedication and faithfulness dear brother you are a good and faithful servant and I have never met you in person but someday we will have a nice chat together who knows maybe this year in Jerusalem. Love and prayers Frankie
    Heavenly Father El Shaddai,
Lord You said speak to the mountain, I am speaking to this destroyer of life
called cancer. I say to you oh cells of sin and death, cells of sickness
and disease that you must shrivel up, shrink up, and completely disappear. I
say to you rouge cells of death that you are a defeated foe. I bind the
authority by which you have assumed to come against my health and life. You
mercenary cells of death and destruction I release the Captian of the Heavenly
Hosts Yehowshua Jesus The Messiah against you. The shed Blood of the Lamb of God
not only covers me to wash away my sins and to protect my life, but it
covers the cancer cells and will smother them out. I stand as a victor before the
throne of God, God has promised that no weapon that has been formed against
me shall prosper, and again every tree that the Lord God did not plant shall
be rooted up, such is your demise and defeat you cancer cells. I speak to my
body and say “you will live and not die”, “you will be the manifest power
and praise of God here on earth”, “you are blessed and not cursed, living and
not dying”, “you are designed to declare the praises of God Almighty, and that
you will do”. Cancer cells you cease your invasion of my earthy temple, the
Lord rebuke you and I rebuke you, you will NOT continue your destructive
rampage but you WILL shrink back and become helpless against the Power of God
that I employ against you and you are completely defeated and destroyed. Every
weapon that I employ to fight you, whether it is medical, chemotherapy,
radiation, and any and all other means will be empowered to bring defeat to you
cancer, and they will not harm me and endanger my life, for my weapons are
mighty to the pulling down of strongholds and I am protected by the Blood,
Power, and Name of Yehowshua Jesus the Messiah. I accept the pouring out of the
Messianic Lamb’s Blood that it washes my sins away and that it protects my
life, and that it purchased my salvation, and that it heals my diseases. I bind
fear and doubt and proclaim God as victor. Cancer you are defeated. Thank
You Lord God that You are fighting and warring against everything that fights
and wars against me. I give You all the praise and glory for my full and
complete recovery. Blessed be Your wonderful Name. I say “I am redeemed” in
the Name of Yehowshua Jesus The Messiah, Amen

  29. senator david thomas Says:

    Dear Sandra and Levitt family,

It is so true that often we do not fully realize what we have until that thing (person) is gone. That, I admit, is the case with Zola and me. I haven’t even met him but over the years I’ve thought of him as not only my Jewish authority but as friend… the great friend I have not introduced myself to yet. Every day I remember him, sometimes hourly, as has been the case through the Passover and Feast days. I don’t believe I’d ever seen Sandra until the recent TV show where she was there with him. I look forward to her being back “on the air” even if Zola must be “in the air” to be with the Lord. Still I pray for a miracle.

  30. DICK & PAULETTE KENT Says:

    DEAR ZOLA:

WE LOVE YOU AND YOUR MINISTRY. WE KNOW THAT YOU ARE IN THE BEST OF HANDS (HIS HANDS) AND THAT YOU AND YOUR FAMILY WILL BE STRENGTHENED AND SHELTERED BY OUR ROCK OF AGES. WE PRAY THAT YOUR BODY WILL BE HEALED BY THE GREAT PHYSICIAN, BUT IF NOT, WE KNOW THAT YOU WILL BE WITH THE ONE THAT YOU HAVE HELPED US KNOW FAR BETTER. WE WILL CONTINUE PRAYING FOR YOU, YOUR MINISTRY AND THE PEACE OF JERUSALEM.

LOTS OF LOVE TO YOU ZOLA – PAULETTE & DICK KENT

  31. cynthia Says:

Dear Zola and Sandra: What a blessing you’ve been to so many. I had the pleasure of meeting you, hearing you, talking w/you a couple of years ago in Eureka CA. You are real, honest, love God so much, and have tried so hard to reach God’s people in a very personal way. Your ministry is so different from other television evangelists, because you reach out into our communities and meet us person to person. What a difference you make, in the ways God has led you to serve. Thank you both for inviting us to be with you in your home group in Dallas, on special trips & events, and in our own towns. To be able to talk to you, validates your sincerity as God’s worker. It is obvious that you do love Him, and love others in His name. I’ve been with you four times – next time in heaven, without pain, in joy as we worship our King. Much love in His name. thankfully, Cynthia (in the California redwood forest)

  32. ALLEN & ALICE PRIMACK Says:

    Dear Zola;

My wife and I are so sorry about your cancer. we pray

that G-d will heal you. You are in our thoughts.

    In Yeshua’s name.

    ALLEN PRIMACK

  33. Rex and Sheryl Hay Says:

    You are picture of Yeshua,Zola.
Having been a hospice nurse, I have seen miracles.
When I think of you, I think of the line in one of your songs, “I believe.”
Thank you for being the God’s man and showing us what true courage is.

  34. Diane Lutes Says:

Zola,I was so sad to hear about your cancer. I have been praying for you and will continue to do so. I believe that God always heals though sometimes He chooses to do so on earth and other times He chooses to heal us in heaven.. You are a awesome man of God and will be missed by myself as well as a multitude of others whose lives you have also touched. I may be a Gentile but I have a great love for the Jew and I will never understand the worlds’ hatred toward them..I’ll continue to love the Jew and to pray for them as well as for the peace of Isreal. Though I have not met you personally on this earth I plan to make a great effort to meet and thank you in eternity for touching my life and heart with all your insight into Jesus, the Jew and prophecy. I know that the Lord will look at you someday and say “well done my good and faithful servant.” May Gods’ healing hand be upon you this day.

  35. Vada Ross Says:

Zola,I rejoice that you will be going home, and at the same time,I am truly saddened. You and your ministry has made and impact for the good on my family. We have a new zeal to reach out to the unsaved and a renewed love for Isreal. God’s work will continue and remember the legecy you are leaving. Vada &David Ross

  36. Kenneth Says:

    Zola:

I have truly been blessed by reading your writings about End-Times Prophecy, and I really find all the Scripture references very helpful. I think that is a very timely message for the world and the Church.

God Bless You Zola and family,

    Kenneth

  37. Teresa Lewis Says:

Beloved family in the Lord: I can only say Thank you Yeshua, for allowing us the joy of having known Zola. Of having learned so much from him, not only how to live for You, but how to leave this world to be with You. Our lives have been enriched and blessed beyond measure. Some of us never met Zola personally, but yet, we feel that we have known him. We have had the privilege of praying for him and his ministry for years, and know that the fruit of what he has planted, sown, watered, and cared for, for so many years will continue to give an increase that only eternity and the Lord himself will measure. We look forward to meeting him in our heavenly mansion, and having a big family reunion. It won’t be long now! Shalom! In the meantime we shall continue to ‘pray for the peace of Jerusalem.’ And for strength and courage to his precious family. T. Lewis

  38. Roger_Matgaret Says:

Zola this is not what we wanted to hear but as you knew more so we knew as well. So if you please, it would be nice if you would visit a few of our mansion in heaven and please leave that touch of Jewish Israel as you presented so well to us. Sorry Mrs.Zola but I feel you’re strong and alive knowing your husband is not gone he only left, I think Zola you’re really a dreamer for adventure. We all release you Zola for we know your dreaming up something really good for all of us to see.

I am a messianic Jew and have been for over 7 years now and I have known and watched Zola for about about 6 years and he was the only Messianic Jew I could really learn from. I was deeply saddend to hear of his diagnosis and even found my self in denial I prayed and believed the best for Zola and today I read my news letter and herd of Zola’s passing. It is hard to think Zola is gone yet I am quickly reminded that he is not gone but present with the Lord and I can even hear Zola teaching those very words! I miss you Zola but look forward to seeing you in the New Jerusalem.

My prayers go out to Zola’s family may the peace of God comfort and fill your hearts.
